Long Island Coffee House Review

Living on Long Island, New York, allows me much variety when it comes to restaurants, coffee shops, and delis. There is so much diversity and before I choose where I want to go, I must first narrow it down to whether I want sushi, Italian, Mexican, French and so on.

Recently I visited a coffee shop native to a small town here on the Island. When I first walked in, I was greeted by the aroma of fresh coffee and scones. The shop was so quaint and small. There was a piano in the back, where I saw a man playing boisterously as several customers shook their heads and smiled. I was greeted in a friendly manner by a young woman who informed me she was originally from Minnesota as well! She recommended her favorite coffee drink to me, and after receiving the drink and tasting it, I absolutely loved it. It was the perfect mix of coffee and taste. She also recommended as a breakfast item, the muffin tops, which I opted to try as well.

As I sat down with the friends I'd come with, she made a joke about not eating too many muffin tops, for fear that they may actually cause muffin tops. It was definitely a place I'll remember and continue to visit again. I loved the courtesy and humor of the service there, the food was spectacular, the decor was so homey, and the atmosphere was inviting. If that wasn't enough, this shop rests in the heart of a small village, where the streets are lined with odds and ends shops, and delis. And all you want to do is walk up and down the streets of the village and feel like a native small-town New Yorker.

  3. You did such a nice job at describing the coffee shop you went to. By the way you explained it it almost felt like I was there. I loved the fact that they had a man playing the piano in the back. It makes it unique from other coffee shops.

  4. It is so great to have options! That’s the thing I love about living in the St. Paul Minneapolis area, you always have something new to try. Your experience sounds like a lot of fun. I love walking into a place with some character. It is even better when the food is actually good, which you can’t count on these days.

  5. Thanks guys! It's really great living on Long Island. I absolutely love the diversity, which isn't as common in Minnesota. I actually took my boyfriend with me for a visit home to Minnesota in August, and it was like culture shock to him, after only knowing the East Coast. It was pretty comical. Sometimes you have to look pretty hard to find those places of mystery and intrigue here on the Island, space and land is very limited. But those places are so magical. I love the state parks here, especially in the summer they are completely divine.
