Recession Affects Meals Too?

The Department of Agriculture reported today that during its annual hunger report, it was found that 14.6 percent of American households had difficulty putting food on the table at times throughout last year. The percentage rose from 11.1 the previous year. Brian Knowlton of the New York Times said that this is an area of the recession where families, and even children, have been directly affected.

  1. How heart breaking. It reminds some of us of why we give thanks for our food each day. Good job on the summary Carissa.

  2. Nice Summary! I feel very strongly about helping this kind of cause and donating to food shelves around this time of year.
