I had a friend in elementary school whose birthday was November 1. So every year instead of a traditional birthday party, she'd have a costume party. I must say, my family was usually very boring when it came to costumes. I was a cat once, and robin hood another time. My sister was creative one year by dressing up as a woman who'd just woken up. She mashed peas in a bowl, and applied them as a mask on her face, dressed in a towl and ratted her hair. The same year, my older brother dressed as a Mexican, which won the "Best Costume" award. He donned a sombrero that a family friend of ours had given him from her trip to Mexico, and also a traditional Mexican blanket.
It was always a lot of fun seeing everyone's unique idea. One year, a friend of mine dressed as an oreo cookie. He roped two black cardboard cirlces together, wearing one in the back and one in the front, and wore white underneath. I remember thinking as a ten-year-old how creative that was.

First of all, I love the comic you chose! Ha ha! I'm a R, so it cracked me up. The Oreo cookie was a good idea.
ReplyDeleteHa ha thanks Ashley! I had a good laugh when I saw it too... I mean honestly, even if you're a democrat you gotta laugh at that! I generally vote R as well, but I laugh at Republican jokes too.

ReplyDeleteMistakes:
• Should be 10-year-old
• Robin Hood should be capitalized as it is a proper name
• Towel is misspelled
• Should be Nov. 1
